Concerning A Free Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a shining example of how to fight for a free society. As one of the only modern examples of a pro-democracy movement happening in Asia - It’s also putting the United States to shame. For all our talk of supporting Freedom and supporting those who fight for it - we have let the people of Hong Kong down. It has been easy to deflect support, up-vote faux concern on social media, but conveniently avoid conversations about militaristic or economic support or intervention. The Trump administration, famous for it’s vitriolic action against mainland China, is confusingly silent on the happenings in Hong Kong. Either there are political reasons (likely related to the aforementioned trade war) to avoid aiding Hong Kong, or their are deeper, more sinister (or unintelligent) reasons for avoidance.

Regardless, America as a nation does not support Hong Kong. What exactly is at play here? Why would this not be the moment to hit China where it hurts and show that the infallible Xi Xin Ping is indeed, fallible and also a weak-minded authoritarian. Let’s not forget that this is the man who is currently cleansing the Uighurs - his own people - harvesting the organs of political prisoners, and suppressing a swine disease outbreak that will shake world food markets in the coming years. You would think that a leader this powerful would have the supreme omnipotence to realize that only weak assholes do this to their own people. Or anyone.

So I am just going to come out and say it: Fuck Xi Xin Ping - and fuck mainland China. Regardless of your political affiliations, the actions of the Chinese government should sicken you. By the way, I don’t worry about people who are Pro-China reading this, because frankly, they won’t be allowed to. They aren’t even aware of my opinion. This is kind of my point - how is it at all possible for there to be Pro-China support in the west? It seems improbable that this could even exist in the first place, so what’s going on here?

Money. Always money. China represents a massive economic opportunity for basically everyone. It also represents a huge population who can be catered to - regardless of the sacrifice needed. It appears that some of my fellow power-hungry, greedy, spineless Americans are silently (and actively) supporting Beijing with both their words and actions.

Apple removed the app ‘HKMap’ from the app store, which was being used by protesters and citizens of Hong Kong to either join or avoid current protests happening in the city. Hats off to you guys, that’s a shitty move.

No one really cares what this person has to say, right? I sure don’t. Sit down and stay in your lane, asshole. How convenient it must be to support politics only sometimes, and suddenly stay mum when others are being enslaved and murdered before your eyes. For shame.

Your games were always shit and now we know why: They match the caliber of your ethics and the quality is inversely related to your level of boot-licking.

By the way, there’s waaay more. Lots of wealthy Americans and Corporations are of the opinion that a free Hong Kong is against their best interests. That passively or supporting the movement, a movement that wouldn’t exist without hundreds of years of American Democratic defiance, will lead to a lower return on investment and are a direct threat to their future wealth and prospects. People who feel this way should take a long look in the mirror and realize: You are wrong. Freedom isn’t always convenient or good for your short term bottom line, but it will always pay off in the long term. Always.
